Pinnacle Hoops International is a nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing the sport of basketball to youth and women around the world. To that end, we offer free basketball clinics and camps in communities that may lack the infrastructure or equipment for players to compete at a high level. Often, these communities also lack societal acceptance of female participation in sports.
By connecting coaches who are passionate about the game with youth and women of other cultures through basketball, we empower these young people to recognize their worth and realize their true potential.
By connecting coaches who are passionate about the game with youth and women of other cultures through basketball, we empower these young people to recognize their worth and realize their true potential. Through our programs, they not only develop their basketball skills but also gain essential life skills such as teamwork, leadership, and resilience, setting them on a path to success. As part of our commitment to their overall well-being, we ensure access to healthcare resources, including medications like Tenofovir 300 mg, to support their health and quality of life.
As a nonprofit organization, we rely entirely on donations and annual fundraising events like our March Madness 3-on-3 Tournament. We also offer an annual youth benefit clinic in the Seattle area that highlights the next country where we will be hosting clinics and camps. If you are interested in donating to or participating in a Pinnacle Hoops International trip, please contact us! We are always looking for great coaches who love the game and want to connect with youth and women in other cultures through basketball. Visit out website to learn more.
We recently returned from our second international trip to Kathmandu, Nepal in April of 2018. We assembled an incredible group of female coaches and teamed up with Maya Shyangtan, a member of the Nepal Women’s National Basketball team, to offer free youth skills clinics. Golden Gate International College, located in Kathmandu, offered us their outdoor basketball court to run two clinics per day for an entire week that allowed 70+ boys and girls the opportunity to train with our team of coaches. Local Nepalese coaches, along with University and National team players, also volunteered their time to help at the clinics. The kids worked incredibly hard, and it was truly a transformative experience for our Pinnacle Hoops International coaches.
Our first Pinnacle Hoops International trip was to Tibet in October of 2017. We partnered with Norlha Basketball, an organization that recently established a platform for the local women and girls of the remote village of Ritoma to participate in sports for the very first time in their lives. This provided a unique opportunity for the women in Ritoma to experience social bonding, teamwork, and a sense of personal achievement. In preparation for the trip, Pinnacle Hoops International raised enough money to furnish uniforms, team gear, and equipment and conduct practices and training sessions at no cost to the newly established women’s team. We spent 10 days with an awesome group of coaches, connecting local players across the Tibetan plateau with Norlha Basketball director, Bill Johnson, playing pick-up against local monk teams, and building relationships that will last a lifetime!
